Penurunan Drastis Aktivitas Petir di Kepulauan Nias: Update Signifikan dari BMKG

DATA NIAS | Jumlah petir di Kepulauan Nias untuk periode 14 hingga 20 Maret 2024 tampak mengalami penurunan dari periode sebelumnya, dengan total 2.010 sambaran yang tercatat. Menurut Buha M. Simanjuntak, Kepala BMKG Stasiun Geofisika di Gunungsitoli, saat ini tidak ada area yang memiliki ancaman petir yang tinggi. Kabupaten Nias Utara dan Kota Gunungsitoli pada saat ini berada dalam status waspada sambaran petir sedang.

Frekuensi tertinggi sambaran petir terjadi di Kabupaten Nias Utara dengan 1.026 sambaran, diikuti Kabupaten Nias Barat dengan 632 sambaran. Sementara itu, Kota Gunungsitoli mencatatkan 159 sambaran, Kabupaten Nias dengan 129 sambaran, dan Kabupaten Nias Selatan mengalami 64 sambaran.


M. Simanjuntak juga berbagi beberapa saran untuk menghindari risiko dari petir. Jika mendengar suara guntur saat berada luar ruangan, segera berlindung ke dalam gedung atau mobil. Bagi pengendara motor yang berada di jalan, nikmati waktu untuk berhenti dan mencari tempat aman.





Drastic Decrease in Lightning Activity in Nias Islands: Significant Update from BMKG

The number of lightning strikes on the Nias Islands for the period 14 to 20 March 2024 appears to have decreased from the previous period, with a total of 2,010 strikes recorded. According to Buha M. Simanjuntak, Head of the BMKG Geophysics Station in Gunungsitoli, currently there are no areas that have a high threat of lightning. North Nias Regency and Gunungsitoli City are currently in moderate lightning strike alert status.


The highest frequency of lightning strikes occurred in North Nias Regency with 1,026 strikes, followed by West Nias Regency with 632 strikes. Meanwhile, Gunungsitoli City recorded 159 strikes, Nias Regency with 129 strikes, and South Nias Regency experienced 64 strikes.


M. Simanjuntak also shared several suggestions for avoiding risks from lightning. If you hear thunder while outside, immediately take cover inside a building or car. For motorbike riders on the road, enjoy the time to stop and look for a safe place.
