Gunungsitoli Perkuat Pencegahan Rabies Melalui Pelaporan Aktif dan Vaksin Gratis

DIDATA NIAS | Dalam rangka mencegah penyebaran rabies, masyarakat di Kota Gunungsitoli diminta untuk segera melaporkan ke Dinas Ketahanan Pangan dan Pertanian (Diskeptan) setiap kasus gigitan yang dilakukan oleh hewan yang diduga penyebar rabies. Pembicaraan ini disampaikan oleh Kepala Diskeptan Kota Gunungsitoli, Darmawan Zagoto.

Menurut Darmawan Zagoto, melapor ke Diskeptan akan memungkinkan timnya untuk mengambil sampel otak hewan pelaku gigitan dan melakukan analisis lebih lanjut di balai veteriner di Medan. Upaya ini sangat penting untuk mencegah penyebaran virus rabies yang dapat membahayakan kehidupan manusia.

“Kami mengimbau masyarakat agar segera melaporkan kepada kami jika ada insiden gigitan hewan. Dengan begitu, kami dapat mengambil langkah-langkah yang diperlukan, termasuk mengambil sampel otak hewan untuk dianalisis. Jangan menunda laporannya, dan berikan informasi secepat mungkin kepada kami,” ungkap Darmawan Zagoto pada hari Kamis (25/4/2024).

Lebih lanjut, Darmawan juga menyampaikan bahwa Diskeptan Kota Gunungsitoli menyediakan vaksin rabies secara gratis bagi masyarakat. Pemilik hewan peliharaan seperti anjing, kucing, atau monyet bisa membawa hewan mereka ke kantor Diskeptan untuk divaksin, atau memilih untuk melakukan vaksinasi sendiri di klinik hewan.

Sampai saat ini, belum adanya kasus positif rabies yang dilaporkan di Kota Gunungsitoli. Namun, beberapa kasus gigitan hewan masih dalam status dugaan atau 'suspect' karena sampel otak hewan yang melakukan gigitan belum berhasil diperoleh.

Gunungsitoli Strengthens Rabies Prevention Through Active Reporting and Free Vaccines

In order to prevent the spread of rabies, people in Gunungsitoli City are asked to immediately report to the Food and Agriculture Security Service (Diskeptan) every case of bite by an animal suspected of spreading rabies. This discussion was delivered by the Head of the Gunungsitoli City Department of Agriculture, Darmawan Zagoto.

According to Darmawan Zagoto, reporting to Diskeptan will allow his team to take brain samples from the animal that was bitten and carry out further analysis at the veterinary center in Medan. This effort is very important to prevent the spread of the rabies virus which can endanger human life.

“We urge the public to immediately report to us if there is an animal bite incident. That way, we can take the necessary steps, including taking samples of the animal's brain for analysis. "Don't delay the report, and provide us with the information as quickly as possible," said Darmawan Zagoto on Thursday (25/4/2024).

Furthermore, Darmawan also said that the Gunungsitoli City Department of Agriculture provided free rabies vaccines for the community. Owners of pets such as dogs, cats or monkeys can bring their animals to the Diskeptan office for vaccination, or choose to vaccinate themselves at a veterinary clinic.

To date, there have been no positive cases of rabies reported in Gunungsitoli City. However, several cases of animal bites are still in 'suspect' status because brain samples from the animal that committed the bite have not been obtained.
