Darmawan Zagoto, yang menjabat sebagai Kepala Diskeptan Kota Gunungsitoli, merinci bahwa bibit cabe tersebut bisa diambil secara gratis oleh warga di kantor Diskeptan yang terletak di Kawasan Perkantoran Desa Dahana.

Zagoto berharap bahwa jika setiap rumah tangga mampu menanam minimal 50 polyback bibit cabe, maka mereka sudah mampu memenuhi kebutuhan cabe untuk konsumsi rumah tangga sendiri. Bibit cabe ini disediakan untuk semua warga, termasuk sekolah dan instansi lainnya. Sampai pertengahan April, sudah tersedia sebanyak 30 ribu batang bibit cabe.

Zagoto juga menyampaikan bahwa pihaknya secara aktif mendorong petani untuk menambah luas area tanam cabe. Saat ini, luas tanaman cabe di kota Gunungsitoli mencakup sekitar 19 hektar, namun idealnya diperlukan area sebesar 40 hektar. Menurutnya, selama luas lahan tanam cabe belum optimal, permintaan cabe di kota Gunungsitoli yang mencapai 1,5 ton per hari akan tetap bergantung dari pasokan luar Pulau Nias.

The Gunungsitoli city government, through the city's Food Security and Agriculture Service (Diskeptan), has taken the initiative to produce and distribute free chili seeds to its residents. Darmawan Zagoto, who serves as Head of the Gunungsitoli City Diskeptan, detailed that the chili seeds can be taken for free by residents at the Diskeptan office located in the Dahana Village Office Area.

Zagoto hopes that if each household is able to plant a minimum of 50 polybacks of chili seeds, then they will be able to meet the need for chilies for their own household consumption. These chili seeds are provided to all residents, including schools and other agencies. As of mid-April, 30 thousand chili seeds were available.

Zagoto also said that his party is actively encouraging farmers to increase the area planted with chilies. Currently, the area of chili plants in the city of Gunungsitoli covers around 19 hectares, but ideally an area of 40 hectares is needed. According to him, as long as the area of land planted for chilies is not optimal, demand for chilies in the city of Gunungsitoli, which reaches 1.5 tonnes per day, will remain dependent on supplies outside Nias Island.
